MY STORY

I have had a love for all animals since I was a child. Our first family dog was a rescue Rough Collie who had a beautiful coat but needed a lot of grooming and he gave me the idea to become a dog groomer.
When I left school I worked weekends at a boarding kennels which also housed Animal Welfare Trust rescue dogs so I was constantly dealing with lots of breeds of dogs and different temperaments with the rescue dogs. it was a lovely job for a dog lover. The owners of the kennels bred and showed toy and miniature poodles and I was always curious how she made them look so amazing.

In the spring of 1993 I found a private course in Norfolk called The College Of Groomatolgy to learn to be a dog groomer.
After I completed the course I started my own grooming business working from a summer house in my parents garden.
A few years later I attended Writtle college in Essex to take my City and Guilds in dog grooming.
After a bit of a gap in my grooming career to have my children and move to Cornwall, in 2007 I opened my grooming parlour on West Looe.
Now I have a new parlour on Buller Quay on East Looe.

Dog behaviour and training has always been something I have wanted to study for most of life, especially when I am working with dogs every day. In 2023 I found the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, they are the leading education providers for dog trainers and behaviourists, and their training is completely science based and reward based. In 2024 I attended the IMDTs 2 day career as a dog trainer course, 4 days practical instructor course where i was taught how to teach clients to train their dogs. I also completed their OCN accredited level 3 Learning, Motivation and Reinforcement which is equivalent to an A level and various other webinars with the IMDT.
I am just waiting to do my final assessment with them. I am also a member of the Dog Trainer School and Dunbar academy.
